Robert's classical training began at the age of 6. Throughout his teens, he studied with members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, played in competitions, and continued the studies that gained him entrance to Oberlin College Conservatory. He completed his formal classical training under the mentorship of Maestro Vladislav Kovolsky of the Lenningrad Conservatory.

Robert performs with local symphonies, including The Lansing Symphony Orchestra and The West Shore Symphony Orchestra. He has also accompanied innumerable musicians in competition and personal performances.
